I'm not quite sure what to say about this, except it hurts. I really feel like the field is losing something huge, and, well. I've wanted to be reprinted in one since I was fourteen, possibly more than I want to publish a novel. I have an Urology appointment. In late August. I'm glad they don't think this is anything serious, except for the bit where I'm on prescription pain meds and so not glad, actually. However, my PT clinic does pulse ultrasound, so we're going to see if we can get the kidney stone out before I have to go in, and then that problem will be solved. ( Read more... )

The publisher of the anthology with the problematic cover responds. As do a few other asshats individuals.

And my head promptly explodes.

This certainly provided it. A TOC that's nearly fifty percent women. All five names on the front cover are male. The logic, apparently, was to go for the "biggest" names in the U. S. market. To which I say: biggest to whom? And it really didn't occur to marketing that perhaps putting a "less" well-known female name on the front cover instead ( Read more... )

Tonight is writing group. Tonight is also Ellen Kushner's signing at Mysterious Galaxy, which I thought was tomorrow night. I did a similar thing with Emma Bull's signing and game night. Because I reed gud, is why.
